In this article, we will talk about the effects of Eco Design Directive on tank. Definitely inner dimensions will increase in Tier 2 loss transformers due to higher wire cross sections. Therefore we can say that consuming of steel in any transformer manufacturer will increase. Another meaning of that inventory management is going to be much more important.

Below changes are expected regarding tank design and production of Ecodesign transformers:

• Tank inner dimensions will increase.
• Thickness of top cover, frame, bottom etc. will increase. Tank suppliers and transformer manufacturers should arrange their production and stock levels accordingly.
• Corrugated wall heights will increase. Corrugated wall machine capabilities should change accordingly.
• «Gas Cushion Type» tank designs will be more preferable for transformer manufacturers due to pressure benefit.
